I was born into a business family. After graduating from an IIT, I joined the family business. We were not badly off, but when I was in my mid-thirties, a severe downturn left me, my wife, two small kids, and old parents, homeless and, as they say, at zero net worth. It took many years to work my way back to financial higher ground. It is an interesting story but this is not the place for telling it.

Looking back, it is clear that I knew very little about Money, and I knew very little about People: the two most important areas of learning required for a successful life. Now, to be honest, I am still learning about Money and People. But as part of this process, it is useful to put down in words some ideas and concepts that I believe are becoming clear.

I hope you will find this set of notes interesting and perhaps useful to guide your own affairs.
